The Natick Alternative Education Center provides for the educational and emotional needs of those students who benefit from a supportive, structured alternative educational environment in order to make effective progress towards the ultimate goal of earning a high school diploma.
The educational and emotional needs of each student is the impetus for determining an individualized program for each student.
General Program Goals
- To provide its students educational and support services as they progress towards graduation.
- To assist students in making school a positive and productive experience, enabling them to transfer knowledge, behaviors and attitudes to their lives beyond high school.
- To provide a supportive, yet structured environment where the educational and emotional climate is one of growth.
- To educate students about the knowledge, behaviors and attitudes required for success in the world of work.
Possible Student Profile
- Ineffective school progress due to learning, behavioral, emotional or psychiatric disability.
- Academic failure due to behavioral issues, attendance problems and an inability or unwillingness to engage in class work.
- Possible history of psychiatric hospitalizations, residential treatment, foster care and/or substance abuse treatment.
